I got a good grasp of some wood working basics. You need wood that is no warped. You need to make accurate measurements. You need to make straight perpendicular cuts. You have to drill perpendicular holes. As soon as you start winging it and think you can eyeball it your pieces will not fit together properly. You need good tools that will make it possible to make good cuts.
