just made my first trip down to the waterfront
lord
i burst into tears as soon as i saw the donation sites and people picking through shoes trying to find their sizes.
boats are everywhere on ground
strat has been venturing down from the beginning with our dothraki dog who is very well known in the village
he doesn't tell me much
so after a lovely night in a/c and a much needed shower
strat made us breakfast and i told him i was ready to see it
put on me local tshirt and hat as the police have blocked off roads and only letting peeps in who are picking up food/supplies or donating
we walked to ground zero
tents up on the street, grills going and it's hot hot hot
stinky dirty mess
i had grand illusion of jumping in and helping in the food line
pfttt
i was a crying fool
they totally have it under control
no one needs to be there unless you need to be there
this level of volunteer service is total angel people who live for that
they don't need you or i clogging up the streets.
we walked down to the water, houses for 3 blocks were trashed, all soaked belongings pulled out by shell shocked residents
ground zero is our local brewery, everything is happening in the street. they thanked us for coming out to support them and we gave cash
lord...lots of displaced people along the coast here
our eccentric quaint hidden beach community will very soon turn into mega mansions on stilts
i'm glad my kiddo grew up here when it was ideal

my kiddo works on the beach, her first teenage job
bridges are now open to residents and workers only
her boss asked for everyone to show up this morning and help dig out the building
it's buried under sand
the beach roads are all beaches now, cars buried under the sand
it's good experience for her

I am thankful to see the disaster angels that appear and take over a situation
it all works out
lot of loss but coastal people know it can happen any time, and over and over
those that suffer will survive
now it's a period of shell shock
and boom
these angels appear and feed every one and pull furniture out of strangers houses
and collect clothes
and hug people
more water than you you've ever seen, cleaning supplies
tables set up w ins. and fema info, numbers to call
strat has been saying all weekend how well organized it is
i'm happy it's my local that's ground zero
angel people
tellin ya
mind you...this isn't govt people or fema people
is local angels, many nameless who will never be seen again

there are certain things you can not prep for, leaving the area is the only option

I have two houses, each on the direct path. There is no comparison.
Desantis had everything ready to go. Acres of utility trucks, FL & natl guard activated, rescue teams ready, supplies staged. In 3 days he restored power to 2.3 million people.
All the NC govt did was declare an emergency and go to dinner.
We have nothing from the state or feds. We're saved by exhausted local responders and private groups. We have no power, water, or communications 4 days later. There are bodies in cars and in trees. And yes, you read that correctly.
We are relying on mule trains and 4x4's to reach people. Literal mule trains.
The NC guard wasn't activated until Sunday. The military still isn't, despite the plethora of bases in NC. The troops are flabbergasted.
Now we're relying on DeSantis to save us in WNC as well.
That answer the question?

What if Andy is just a program that ran its course? well that is precisely what it was he's still there on another level when he wants to be I have no need to call on him but he makes his presence known now and again he wrote all about it in his book like he'd done it before maybe many times I wonder why some are can remain 'around' and others move on is it a choice? who knows What book?
